Fellowship and Families

Ravenswood United Church of Christ is the type of place where, “everyone knows your name.”  We believe that a church is more than a place to go to on Sunday mornings, it’s a community. We share life’s joys and sorrows together and are always ready with a helping hand or a caring word for those who need it.

 

The life of our community is robust.  We have a fellowship time after worship every Sunday with delicious treats brought by members of the church.  We’ve developed a “One Church-One Book” program that brings people together to discuss contemporary novels and examine how they speak to our faith.  We hold an annual Oktoberfest to let our hair down, enjoy a beer and a brat and celebrate our German heritage with music and dancing.

 

Our ministry to families is one of our most important priorities.  We have a professionally staffed nursery to care for infants and toddlers during worship.  Our Sunday School program uses a unique curriculum that engages children ages three to twelve.  We provide instruction for young teens to prepare them for confirmation.  We are establishing a Youth Initiative to keep our teenagers engaged with the church at a time in their life when so many drift away.  Caring for families of all colors, shapes and sizes is integral to our mission as a church.
